Education Financing Alternative: Federally-backed PLUS loans have a fixed interest rate of 7.9%. With the current low-interest rate environment, some brokerages have favorable loans available to clients with non-qualified accounts. For example, Pershing LLC has a program called LoanAdvance where the rate is tied to Prime, which is currently at 3.25%.
